Today (Monday) the transfer of four large transformers was coordinated and approved by COGAT and donated by UNDP organization in the Gaza Strip for the power plant.
Four transformers were brought in order to improve the activity and electricity generation capacity at the station and are a part of an extensive project for upgrading the power supply capacity of the power plant from 80 megawatts that it can provide today to 120 MW, in two months (with final placement of the new transformers).
Israel continues to supply electricity to the Gaza Strip through the ten power lines that supply 124megawatts every day into the Gaza Strip. After reaching an agreement between PA in Ramallah and the Israeli energy generation company and an Egyptian involvement.
The supply of industrial diesel was recently renewed and as you may see, yesterday 537 thousand liters of diesel, 80 thousand liters of gasoline and about – 210 tons of gas were transferred to the power station in Gaza through the Kerem Shalom and today (04.09.12) a similar amount is expected to undergo.
Moreover, Egypt has increased the supply of electricity to Gaza from 17 megawatts a day to 22 megawatts per day. That is, along with 124 MW provided by Israel and 120 MW that shall be produced at the power plant in Gaza, after placing the new transformers. The situation of Electricity in Gaza will rise and stand on approximatly 266 megawatts a day. Meanwhile, the supply of fuel regualrly to the power plant, still stands a gap, however, Israel has no part in this gap and allows the entrance of diesel rtyto the station as soon as requested.
