This week the annual Epiphany holiday celebrations will take place in the baptismal site on the Jordan River (“Qasser el-Yahud”). The largest ceremony, held by the Greek Orthodox congregation, will take place this Friday.
Date: 15.01.13 The baptismal site, located east of Road 90 and about a 10-minute drive from the city of Jericho, is where Christians believe Jesus was baptized. During the past couple of years the site has undergone a massive renovation to make it suitable for visitors from around the world. It is open seven days a week, free of charge, and is visited every day by numerous tourists, Palestinians and Israelis. This week around 25 thousand believers are expected to participate in the Epiphany holiday ceremonies, something that the Jericho DCL is prepared for.
The Civil Administration kindly invites you to come and witness the events this Friday.
