The spokesman for Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories reports that the Palestinian contractor responsible for operating the Kerem-Shalom crossing at the Palestinian side, refused to arrive at the crossing and assist in the transfer of goods from the Israeli side into the Gaza Strip.

The contractor’s failure to arrive is due to Hamas attempts to replace the concessionaire selected by the Palestinian Authority with concessionaire on their behalf and thus to take over the operation of the crossing and to increase its profits over the PA gains.

This decision of Hamas violates the security status-quo and threatening the continuing of proper operation of the crossing and security arrangements.

The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Eitan Dangot, spoke this morning with high ranked Palestinian Authority officials, and inform them of the decision of the Palestinian contractor, said that so far 65 trucks were received on the Israeli side and stressed that Israel is prepared to transfer the cargo to Gaza if the Palestinian contractor decides to return to work.
