The Deputy Chief of Staff has decided to accept the recommendation of the MAG’s Chief Military Defender, and has ordered that the Internal Investigations Unit responsible for investigating complaints against the Military Police will no longer be subject to the command, or professional subordination, of the Chief Military Police Officer.

Following this decision, the army shall investigate complaints against the Military Police by a unit outside of the Military Police – similar to the Israeli Police Force, where complaints against the Israeli Police are investigated by the Police Investigation Department (an external body to the Police) – so that the investigative unit can undertake its task in a professional manner, without even the appearance of any conflict of interest.
