Tomorrow, February 17, 2015, the IDF’s Chief Military Advocate General (MAG), Danny Efroni will host an international legal conference on the practical orientation of international law in contemporary armed conflicts.

Participants in this conference include international chief military advocate generals, senior legal advisers on martial law from around the world, legal advisers from various international organizations, academic experts in the field of international law, senior officers from the IDF’s MAG as well as other senior Israeli legal advisers.

The goal of this conference is to allow for legal and professional discourse between the world’s experts in the field of international law, both in practice and from within academia.  The discussion will examine the laws of war in a time of asymmetric warfare with an in-depth look at the types of enemies the world currently faces, specifically analyzing how to combat an enemy hiding amongst its own civilians.

The conference will last three days and will cover the legal challenges      surrounding modern warfare. In additions to panels, discussion groups and simulations the attendees will also tour southern Israel.

The conference will open with words from Supreme Court Justice Prof. Daphne Barak Erez, the Attorney General of Israel Mr. Yehuda Weinstein and MAG Danny Efroni.
