“Let the year and its curses end, May the year and its blessings begin – Happy New Year”. This was the blessing of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Eitan Dangot, as he blessed the soldiers and commanders of the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories Unit during a ceremony in honor of the New Year.

The traditional New Year ceremony, which took place on Sunday September 5, 2010, was led by the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Eitan Dangot and was also attended by the Head of the Civil Administration, Brigadier General Yoav (Polli) Mordechai, the Head of the District Coordination Administration in Gaza, Colonel Moshe Levy, senior officials in the reserves and all the Unit’s officers and civilians.

During the ceremony new ranks were awarded and letters of appointment issued to officers of the unit. The awards were given by Major General Dangot and conducted with the participation of the officers’ families who were visibly excited.

During his toast, Major General Dangot delivered a speech to the invited guests and thanked them for their many achievements during the previous year. Major General Dangot mentioned that the State of Israel faces many threats from various countries and terror organizations, including Hamas, the controlling entity in Gaza.

Before the ceremony, the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories blessed the lone soldiers and special populations and presented the lone soldiers with a gift and said “You, the lone soldiers, give us the strength and belief in the justice of our way. You embody for us the example that we should demand from ourselves what we demand from you – to be better soldiers and commanders. Together we are partners in educating the next generation of the State of Israel.”
