June 2014 saw an increase in the number of terror attacks: 136 attacks as opposed to 116 in May 2014. The increase originated in the Gaza Strip: 36 attacks as opposed to 9 in May. In contrast to the Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria had a record of 89 attacks as opposed to 96 in May, while Jerusalem kept a similar record of attacks as in May: 11 attacks. A prominent event this month was the kidnap and murder (12 June) of three teenage Yeshiva students in Gush Etzion: Naftali Fraenkel, Gilad Shaar, and Eyal Yifrah, may they rest in peace. Their bodies were found in a field near the village of Halhul (Hebron area).
Three Israelis were killed (see above) and five Israelis were lightly injured this month: a soldier (2 June) was injured by small arms at Tapu’ach junction / Samaria and four civilians were injured by fire which started as a result of rocket launchings from the Gaza Strip towards Sderot.

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in June 71 out of 100 were in the form of firebombs (May: 88 out of 107).

High-trajectory launchings from Gaza Strip and Sinai
Throughout June 2014 62 rockets and 3 mortar shell were launched** towards Israel (in 34 attacks), as opposed to May: 4 rockets and 3 mortar shell in 5 attacks.
**Clarification: The number of launchings is the number of rockets/mortar shells actually launched during one high-trajectory fire attack. For example: one attack may include a salvo of three launchings, that is, three rockets/ mortar shells, and so it will be counted as one attack and three launchings.
