September 2014 had a record of 115 terror attacks. This is a decrease in the number of attacks, not only compared with July and August during which Operation Protective Edge took place, but also compared with June1 (136 attacks).

All in all, it is possible to say that the number of attacks in September is similar in scope with May (116) and April 2014 (112).

Also, a decrease has been noted in the number of attacks in all zones as opposed to the previous month. Similarly, the Gaza Strip showed a decrease in the number of attacks, also when comparing with June – one attack as opposed to 36 in June.

Judea and Samaria had a similar record of attacks in September and June: 89 attacks. However, Jerusalem showed an upward shift in the number of attacks with 25 as opposed to 11 attacks in June.
No casualties from terror attacks were noted in September.

Data regarding terror attacks in September 2014

Following is a regional distribution of attacks: 1 attack from the Gaza Strip, (867 in August, most of them high trajectory fire); 89 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (241 in August); 25 attacks in Jerusalem (69 in August).

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in September 98 out of 114 were in the form of firebombs (August: 263 out of 310).

The Gaza Strip – 1 attack: 1 mortar shell launching.
Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 114 attacks: 15 IED (including pipe bombs and improvised grenade); 1 small arms shooting; throwing; 98 firebombs (25 in Jerusalem).

High-trajectory launchings from Gaza Strip and Sinai
Throughout September 2014 one mortar shell was launched** from the Gaza Strip towards Israel. In August: 1,576 rockets and mortar shell from the Gaza Strip and 6 rockets from Sinai. (2 attacks).

**Clarification: The number of launchings is the number of rockets/mortar shells actually launched during one high-trajectory fire attack. For example: one attack may include a salvo of three launchings, that is, three rockets/ mortar shells, and so it will be counted as one attack and three launchings.
