October 2014 had a record of 153 terror attacks, as opposed to 115 in September 2014. This is an increase in the number of attacks. The increase was mainly noted in Jerusalem with 49 terror attacks, as opposed to 25 in September; and Judea and Samaria with 103 attacks as opposed to 89 in September. Yet the Gaza Strip kept a record of attacks – one attack as in September. As for victims from terror attacks, an Israeli infant and a citizen of Ecuador were killed and seven were injured in a run-over terror attack in Jerusalem (22 October).

The casualties from terror attacks in October were such: One Israeli citizen was severely shot in Jerusalem (29 October); four security officers were injured – one by an IED throwing nearby Rachel’s Tomb, Judea (14 October) and three by throwing of fire bomb and stone at Sinjil junction, Samaria (20 October).

Following is a regional distribution of attacks: 1 attack from the Gaza Strip, (as in September); 103 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (89 in September); 49 attacks in Jerusalem (25 in September).

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in October 127 out of 152 were in the form of firebombs (September: 98 out of 114).

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 152 attacks: 1 run-over (in Jerusalem); 14 IED (including pipe bombs and improvised grenade); 4 small arms shooting (1 in Jerusalem); 6 object/stone throwing (2 in Jerusalem); 127 firebombs (45 in Jerusalem).

High-trajectory launchings from Gaza Strip and Sinai

Throughout October 2014 one mortar shell was launched** from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, as in September.

**Clarification: The number of launchings is the number of rockets/mortar shells actually launched during one high-trajectory fire attack. For example: one attack may include a salvo of three launchings, that is, three rockets/ mortar shells, and so it will be counted as one attack and three launchings.
