August 2016 saw a decrease in the number of attacks: 93 (73 of which were firebomb attacks), as opposed to 101 in July. The decrease was mainly evident in Jerusalem: 13 attacks, compared to 24 in July. 77 attacks were executed in Judea and Samaria, the same number of attacks as in July. The number of attacks originating from the Gaza Strip, however, increased from 1 in July to 3 in August.



Seven Israelis were injured in August’s terrorist attacks: 1 civilian and 6 security personnel: 3 were injured in stabbing attacks (the civilian on 11 August in At-Tur neighborhood in Jerusalem, and two security personnel in Samaria on 14 and 24 August); 2 security personnel were injured in firebomb attacks in Ramallah on 10 August and in Isawiya/Jerusalem on 28 August; and another 2 security personnel were injured in Samaria as a result of a pipe-bomb attack on 3 August and an object/stone throwing attack on 6 August.

Following is a regional distribution of attacks:  3 attack from the Gaza Strip, (1 in July); 77 attacks in the Judea and Samaria (as in July); 13 attacks in Jerusalem (24 in July).

Jerusalem and the Judea and Samaria area: Most attacks executed in August 73 out of 90 were in the form of firebombs (July: 73 out of 100).

The Gaza Strip – 3 attacks: 1 rocket launching; 2 small arms shooting.

Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – 90 attacks: 13 IED (including pipe bombs and improvised grenade); 1 object/stone throwing; 3 stabbing (1 in Jerusalem); 73 firebombs (12 in Jerusalem).

Throughout August 2016 one rocket was launched** from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, as opposed to July in which 2 rockets were launched (within 1 attack).

**Clarification: The number of launchings is the number of rockets/mortar shells actually launched during one high-trajectory fire attack. For example: one attack may include a salvo of three launchings, that is, three rockets/ mortar shells, and so it will be counted as one attack and three launchings.
